Dogs and Cats! How awesome to have a place where you can walk around petting things all day. Surprisingly, one of my favorite dogs was the Whippet. I looked into those eyes and fell in love. Eyes reminded me of a deer. But, I'm a sucker for all dogs. I think there wasn't one that I wasn't totally gaga about. And the cats were awesome. The kittens amazed me because they were sooooo docile. I mean, most of them weren't on a leash or anything and they just sat there as literally thousands of people walked around them. I could just picture mine darting all over the place with me swearing up a bluestreak for everyone to stand still until I could find her!
Silver nail polish. Because, I felt I wanted to kick up my heels a bit and talked myself out of the blue/green polish. The silver one seemed like a good compromise and my nails looks festive but not work inappropriate (well, not too much and I doubt anyone cares all that much about the state of my nails anyway).
NY-for being rather awesome in the always something to do department.
And, last but not least, questionairres. Because they gave me one at the show and they asked for one word to describe my dog--and I instantly knew what it was...and the same word applies to each one of my cats: past and present.
The word: blessing.
And aint it the truth?
2-Lunch: I took a lunch hour today! (I've taken maybe 10 all year). Calmly, wonderfully, walked away from my desk and out in the back. I was only one of a handful of people back there and got an adorondack (sp?) chair all to myself. I read, looked around at a lovely, brisk fall day and came back all zen-like.
3-A better day at work. Boss was in fairly early with no snarking, no giving me massive amounts of new junk to do and a couple of comments here and there that made me think (foolishly or not) that he heard some of what I said yesterday.
4-Getting home right before the monsoon. I mean, RIGHT before. I had about two minutes to spare and then the heavens opened up!
5-This raspberry almond cake they sell at the bakery down the block (this is SO NY--everything is up the block or down the block). Anyway, it's fabulous. And fairly cheap ($6).
6--(I'm on a roll here) I saw the movie, City Island, yesterday. It's SO quirky but it really gives a nicer portrayal of the Bronx than any movie I've seen. Sure, the natives are crazy (and--believe me--that's an extremely realistic portrayal, in its own way) but some of the Bronx is lovely. And I love City Island, anyway (the real place) so it was nice to see on film.
